Dr. Gesel is a lifelong Ohio resident from Dayton, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University, earning a degree in Agriculture in 1969 with a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1973.
Upon graduation from the college of veterinary medicine, Dr. Gesel started the Pickerington Animal Hospital treating all large and small animals. In 1977 he joined the Columbus Health Department as the public health veterinarian in charge of the rabies and the grade A milk inspection programs. In 1984 he became an adjunct professor of preventive medicine at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Gesel returned full-time to private practice in 1996. Upon returning to private practice, he limited his practice to equine reproduction, medicine, surgery, and small animal medicine and surgery. He has been the veterinarian and advisor for the Columbus Police Department mounted unit since its inception.
He is a lifelong member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical, American Veterinary Medical Association, and American Association of Equine Practitioners. He served as chairman of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association equine committee for many years.
In 1999 The Ohio State Senate extended special recognition to Dr. Gesel for Distinguished Service to Youth.
Dr. Danielle Pentello grew up in Massillon, Ohio, where she graduated from Canton Central Catholic High school in 2003. She then attended The Ohio State University as an Animal Science major and graduated in 2007 with her Bachelor's Science in Agriculture. While working at a few clinics as kennel staff and a veterinary assistant, she continued her education and graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. After graduating from veterinary school, she started working at Pickerington Animal Hospital and has been here since.
When she's not taking care of pets at the clinic, she loves baking and spending time with her family making memories. Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, disease prevention, and client education. She understands it is important for owners to understand what is going on with their pets and their treatment options in order to provide the best possible outcome. Every animal is different, and there is no "cookie-cutter" treatment for many.
She loves living in Pickerington and looks forward to the future years to come.
